Although they hail from the heart of the Midwest, Kansas City indie-rock band Momma’s Boy bring the surf grooves and garage-rock riffs of the coasts to the heartland. High school band-mates Peter Beatty, Shaun Crowley, and Quinn Hernandez are joined by Jared Bajkowski to create a sound that combines elements of acts like The Shins with those of Surfer Blood. First known for throwing house shows at The Shawnee Manor with local and national acts including Hinds and Glass Animals, Momma’s Boy is leaving the basement to spread their tunes across the Midwest. Their power-pop and surf-rock vibes are on full display on their debut EP “Liquid Courage” releases in February of 2017.
